Not long ago, a shocking case surfaced against several independent media voices in India—people like Ravish Kumar, Dhruv Rathee, Abhisar Sharma, Pragya, and many others. These individuals, who run their own YouTube channels, have become a trusted source of news for millions, including myself.
Why? Because in today’s media landscape, much of mainstream news has fallen into the hands of wealthy corporations and political powers. What we often see on TV are fabricated stories, biased reporting, and fake narratives crafted to glorify the wrong people while silencing the truth.
I want to make it clear—I do not support or oppose any political party. But as a citizen, I cannot ignore the worsening situation in which truth-tellers are being punished and those with questionable actions are celebrated as national heroes.
Recently, I learned that Ravish Kumar and other independent journalists have received court notices ordering them to delete videos where they spoke openly about Adani, Ambani, and political dealings. Think about it—these journalists are being forced to erase their voices simply because they dared to question powerful names.
But here is the reality: exposing corruption and questioning authority is not only the responsibility of these journalists. It is also our duty as citizens to stand for truth, justice, and accountability. If we allow the voices of courage to be silenced, who will speak for us tomorrow?
At the end of the day, my appeal/opinion is simple—stand with Ravish Kumar and others like him. If they lose this battle, the space for honest journalism will vanish, and we, the people, will be left in darkness. And to those media houses that have abandoned their prime duty to support the wrong side—remember, one day your families may also face the consequences of these actions.
Today, more than ever, we must support the diamonds of our country—independent journalists who dare to speak truth to power.
